Meeting the cousins

We had Easter dinner with the Russell side of the family, Kirk and Elaine were nice enough to host us! We had a great time seeing everyone and Mason got to meet his cousins.

Mason and his cousin Alyx are only four days apart! In a few years they will probably be playing at family reunions...

....but right now they will settle for a nap together.

Both babies got lots of attention from their older cousins and siblings- Katie, Savannah and Cal.

They all had a great time. Thank you Kirk and Elaine for hosting!

Mason and I had our first day of work and school this week. The first day was hard, but we have all transitioned well. The other kids at daycare like him a lot and they all yell "Bye Mason!!" when we leave. My favorite comment has been from one little girl who said "Mason's dad works at a hospital. I could tell because of his green pants." So funny!!

Turn the flash off mom!! (look at those little shoes.)

Getting the garden ready

This is our second year planting a garden and we are excited to try a few different plants. This year we are going to grow strawberries and rhubarb (to make Trent's favorite pie) along with our usual tomatoes, peppers, onions, carrots, peas, watermelon...YUM!! And maybe even a sweet potato to make Mason baby food later on. We have been getting the garden ready, and the whole family has helped.

Cooper sat in the tomato bed and supervised (he's very helpful).

 Kona babysat.

And Mason sat under the shade of our pear tree and looked cool.

Thanks for the sunglasses Grammie Vickie! He actually kept them on his face!!

10 weeks!

Mason has changed so much in the last few weeks, he is getting so big!! He is getting much better at holding his head up (until he gets tired and it just falls forward), he likes to stand up on our laps and hold himself up and he smiles all the time. He babbles to us and loves it when I sing to him. I have sang him every Beatles song I know but his favorite is Hey Jude. He gets the biggest smile on the Na-Na-Na-Na part.

I am going back to work on Monday. I am excited to use my brain again (I feel like I have dropped a considerable amount of IQ points after not sleeping for a few months), but I will be so sad to leave this little boy! We found a wonderful daycare for him. A woman named Luisa runs it out of her home, and she only takes kids until they go to Kindergarten. She also only takes a few kids, there will only be 4-5 children in her class and she came with wonderful references. I think Mason will do very well there, although I still want to put him under my desk while I work. He will be very quiet, I promise!!

He still loves his puppies.

Taking a little snooze.

 And showing his rocker side.

Where did these bears come from??

Trent went fishing in Stanley, Idaho last weekend with a few friends of ours from Salt Lake. He had so much fun and caught a few Steelhead, even though he had to hike through three feet of snow to get to the river! Brr. But he only gets that big cheesy grin when he just caught a fish!!

Two months!

Mason is two months old! He is 11 lbs 12 oz, is in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height.  He is a very healthy and happy baby! He has slept for 8 hours a few times, which makes everyone in the house very happy! Hopefully soon we will all be sleeping through the night. Mason did have to get his two month immunizations, which is never fun for either mom or baby, but he did very well. He cried only when getting the shots, then as soon as the nurse was done he stopped, looked around and immediately fell asleep. It was much less traumatizing then I thought!

He is smiling and cooing more and more and he is always so excited to see his Daddy when he gets home from work. He and Trent love making faces at each other. It's very sweet.

Newborn Photos

We got our newborn photos back recently...and they are soooooo adorable. Our photographer did a wonderful job, she had the best props, was very patient and waited for the perfect shots. I was very impressed with her! Her website is www.sweetpeaphotos.com  if anyone needs beautiful pictures of their children!!

This one is my favorite!!!

What a cutie!

7 weeks old!

Mason will be seven weeks old tomorrow, March 24th. In the last week he has started smiling and cooing!

It's the cutest thing I've ever seen.

He is also getting so much bigger and loves staring at lights, windows and bookshelves (for some reason). We read a few books every day and he stares at our faces and makes noises while we read to him.

Trent and I also had our first day out together while Mason stayed with our wonderful friend Angela, who took excellent care of him! We were so happy to go to a Real soccer game and enjoy the sunshine for a few hours.
