7 weeks old!
Mason will be seven weeks old tomorrow, March 24th. In the last week he has started smiling and cooing!
It's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
He is also getting so much bigger and loves staring at lights, windows and bookshelves (for some reason). We read a few books every day and he stares at our faces and makes noises while we read to him.
Trent and I also had our first day out together while Mason stayed with our wonderful friend Angela, who took excellent care of him! We were so happy to go to a Real soccer game and enjoy the sunshine for a few hours.

Weekend in Boise
We took a family road trip to Idaho so Mason could meet family and our Boise friends. It was quite the adventure with Mason, two dogs (one who has a panic attack in the car the ENTIRE time) and two parents in a zombie-like state. It was a busy weekend, and all five of us were exhausted when we came home, but it was so wonderful to introduce Mason to family and friends that we don't get to see all the time!
Our first stop was Grandma and Grandpa Barrus' house....

Where Mason met his Grandma Kelly for the first time!
It was love at first sight, of course! He also met Aunt Crystal...
Cousin Kira...
Cousin Alex...
And Cousin Abby!
After visiting family, our friends threw us a baby shower. We had so much fun catching up with everyone!
Not every baby shower has two superheros in attendance.
Thank you everyone who worked so hard and came to celebrate with us! We love these people!!
After the baby shower, Mason met the Russell side of the family.
Grandpa Brad and Grandma Pam got to meet their first grandson...
And Grandma and Grandpa Russell met their eighth great grandson!
Four generations! In plaid. I promise I didn't dress them, they did this all on their own.
We are so lucky to have the best family and friends, we have been so spoiled and felt so much love for this little boy!

Random cute pictures
Our very good friends Ernie and Jackie gave us this little Boise State beanie. Their kids wore it when they were newborns, and Mason wanted to make sure and represent the Broncos as well!
Hanging out with his brother Cooper.
Funny face.
The Quinley Family Visit
Grammie Vickie, Grandpa Quin and Aunt Lizzie came to meet Mason for the first time this weekend!
They met Mason on February 14, seven years to the day after my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Her prognosis was 5-7 years at diagnosis. Instead, she responded well to treatment and kept a positive attitude, and on her seventh year she got to hold her new baby grandson healthy and cancer free. It was quite the celebration for our family that day!
He already loves his Aunt Lizzie.

Baby's Best Friend
We always thought that our female dog, Kona, would be the one that would love Mason and act as his protector. She has always loved kids, while our male dog, Cooper, has never been that interested in them. But for some reason, Cooper has decided that Mason is his baby!
The first encounter...
It was love at first sight. Cooper sits by his bassinet while he's sleeping, he checks on him when he makes noises and runs into the nursery when he starts crying. Coop is usually a big brute that jumps on everyone, but he is very gentle with Mason and gives him the tiniest of kisses on the top of his head.
It's pretty cute. Kona has gotten her cuddle time in as well...
And so have mom and dad!
We are all getting used to each other and our routine. Mason is very healthy and is a good eater and sleeper. And he's pretty dang cute!!
